Harsh reactions to food and food additives is cause for food intolerance. When the body’s immune system or defense system is directly involved this causes immediate reactions and severe food allergies.

Many people suffer from the food intolerance in which people receives undesirable reactions to food. There are various symptoms of the food intolerance and doctors recommends allergy tests to detect this disease.Fatique also sets in when people suffer from food intolerance.Doctors around the world are researching more on this.

There are many different kinds of non-immune responses to food items. One of the most evident cases is plain toxicity. You know that there are various contaminants present in our environment. Contaminants are things which get into your food at the time of growing or harvesting or processing or wrapping or while storing.

These are at times unsafe. In certain cases such contaminants may make your food toxic and any person who eats them will experience health hazards. Now there are another set of people who do not have the enzymes required to digest certain foods. Their problems are less obvious compared to the other risks.

You have probably heard of lactose intolerance. This is the technical term describing the condition people have when they cannot digest dairy products. They are missing an enzyme which is used to digest milk sugar, or lactose. Most people have no problem digesting dairy products because they have this enzyme.

Another instance of food intolerance which is non-allergic in nature is the effect caused due to the presence of naturally seen chemicals present in food, or in additives which form a chemical reaction. The mentioned reactions are very like actual allergic reactions and there is a chance that they may get mistakenly tagged as food allergy.

The category of food additives includes many different types of chemicals. They can be used to preserve, flavor or color foods. Some you have probably heard of are tartrazine, Mono-sodium Glutamate, and sodium benzoate. When additives are involved in chemical reactions in the body it is not technically an allergic reaction, since it is not causing a response from the immune system.

Naturally occurring substances can occur in such high concentrations that they make food unsafe to eat. Another category of food intolerance involves people who lack certain enzymes which are required to digest certain foods, such as lactose intolerance. These conditions are less dangerous but still serious. Common symptoms include dry eyes, breathing difficulties or fatigue. Type tired, or “fatique” into a search engine to learn more details. Lactose intolerance is a familiar instance. Such situations can often be discovered through an allergy test. An alternative situation comes from a negative reaction to chemicals found in food. These substances may be of natural or artificial origin.
