Dubai , UAE – February 24, 2009:  DuPont, a world leader in market-based science products and services, will deliver a presentation on science-based solutions that promise to significantly enhance food safety, today (February 24, 2009) at the 4th Dubai International Safety Conference. The conference is a major event within Gulfood 2009, the 14th Gulf Food, Hotel & Equipment Exhibition and Salon Culinaire running from February 23 to 26, 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).

The science company will present its comprehensive range of customer-oriented innovative technologies in agriculture, food ingredients, food packaging, food safety and special food-related solutions that have been developed specifically for the food industry. The solutions to be featured include the BAX® system a DNA-based food pathogen detection and the RiboPrinter® microbial characterization system from Dupont’s Qualicon product line; Appeel™ solvent-free flexible peelable liddings; Solae™ soy ingredients; the Crop Protection Plus line of insecticides and herbicides; and the Suva® and ISCEON® non-ozone-depleting refrigerants, among others.

“DuPont offers comprehensive and innovative food industry solutions focusing on food safety, packaging and ingredients. These will prove extremely useful for the Gulf’s burgeoning food service sector and its increasingly health-conscious population, which are seeking safer food processing and handling methods. From quality control in food production processes to packaging, our expertise in food-related technologies will be directed at ensuring safety across the region’s food markets,” said Doris Engesser Sudlow, EMEA Business Manager, DuPont Qualicon.

Bilgehan Suer, DuPont Qualicon Account Manager, Turkey, Middle East, North Africa, Russia and CIS, and DuPont Qualicon President Kevin Huttman will talk about how DuPont plans to integrate innovations such as Qualicon’s award-winning BAX® system throughout the Gulf’s food value chain. DuPont’s food representatives will also network with key Gulf food interests throughout the conference.

The BAX® system pioneered the use of polymerase chain reaction to accurately detect minute levels of bacteria and other microbes in food. The product is being adopted by a growing number of international companies and food authorities; it is in fact currently being used by government laboratories in the US, China, Russia, and Brazil.
