New regulations issued by the Ministry of Health designed at unifying standards of food and consumer goods manufacturing, are expected to create considerable opportunities for suppliers of packaging technology.

The regulations initially focused on dairy products, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, food products and food additives call for streamlining the organizations responsible for monitoring and raising of standards for all product manufacturing. Chinese manufacturers are to apply stricter tests on raw materials and implement tighter controls on the manufacturing process. Technology used in the processing, manufacture and packaging and labeling of all products from food and beverage, to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, home care to industrial products will be much in demand, as companies install new plant and equipment in advance of the regulations enforcement.

ProPak China 2009, from 15-17 July 2009 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), will occupy 28,750 square metres and includes 500 companies from 20 countries.

Demand is anticipated to be particularly strong for technology used in monitoring, testing, weighing and measuring, filling and packing, labeling and coding systems used to trace product from source to customer. The Shanghai Food & Drug Municipal Administration (SFDMA) will organize a seminar at ProPak China 2009 to review the new regulations and opportunities this will create for technology suppliers.

ProPak China 2009 has won the exclusive support of international and regional pavilions from Germany, Korea, Taiwan Region, the UK and the US. Companies offering new and innovative technology from these countries continue to be a unique feature of this trade show. International companies will target the Chinese domestic market at ProPak China 2009.

In excess of 2,000 overseas buyers are expected to attend ProPak China 2009 in search of appropriate technology and at Chinese prices.
